Founded in 2008, Palani French Bakers established a classic French bakery on The Big Island. The first baguettes, brioche and beautiful French rounds to arrive on the island in recent memory, Palani French Bakers began its journey to return these delights to the people of Hawaii Island and to make great artisan breads and pastry truly accessible.
Delicious hearth breads, slicing loaves, breakfast treats and specialty snacks are baked fresh and delivered on Wednesdays and Saturdays from our commercial kitchen in Kawaihae. Preservatives are never used in our breads and we incorporate the finest ingredients found on our amazing island, including locally grown rosemary, basil, and alaea pink Hawaiian salt.
Some of our specialties are the croissants; both the butter and chocolate varieties are made from Chef David Touchet’s own recipe. The chocolate croissants are made with Hawaiian chocolate from the Dole Estate on Oahu and are one of our top sellers. Our palmiers, macadamia nut/coconut bear claws and tempting shortbread cookies also top the list of treats. Some of our most popular bread varieties are the Rosemary French Round and the Kalamatta Olive Fougasse (we also do a roasted garlic and a tomato variety).
